How I charge, said before you ask.
Fixed scope, with the number measured before and after. If your page is already fast, I say so and there is no project.
A price hidden behind a form is a way of charging for the time of whoever asks. Here is the whole criterion.
Three formats, and the criterion for each
What decides is not company size, it is the kind of risk the work carries.
Diagnosis: free. I measure your page under real mobile network conditions and say where the time is going. It ends with a recommendation, which is sometimes to leave it alone.
Fixed scope: fixed price, fixed deadline, delivery defined by a measurable criterion rather than a feeling. If I got the estimate wrong, the mistake is mine and does not become overtime.
Ongoing operation: monthly, for platforms already live that need to stay fast. Includes published measurement, because a fast platform without measurement is slow again in six months.
What usually comes up
Why fixed price? Because billing by the hour rewards taking longer. Fixed scope puts the estimate risk on me, who is the one able to reduce it.
What if the scope changes midway? It becomes a new scope, quoted separately and in writing. What does not happen is the bill growing on its own.
Do you hand over the code? Yes, all of it, with no platform lock-in. If one day you want another supplier, the next one can continue.
Start with the diagnosis, which costs nothing.
Send the URL you want to beat. The first reply comes with a measurement, not a quote.
